豊後竹田駅の裏手を散策してみる。

落門の滝(らくもんのたき)

JR豊後竹田駅の裏手にある岸壁に美しく流れ落ちるこの滝は、城原井路の末流である「落門の滝」です。
落差は60メートルあり、広瀬淡窓が詩を詠んだとして有名です。

下木石仏（したぎせきぶつ）

写真左側の像は、多聞天（毘沙門天）。
写真右側の像は千手観音。
この右側の像ですが、摩崖神にも見えないでしょうか。
両肩には天使の羽根のようなものが生えており、手をオメガ状に組んでいることから、竹田キリシタンに関わる遺物ではないだろうかと言われており、謎が深まります。

Stroll around behind Bungo-Taketa Station.

"Rakumon no Taki"

This waterfall that beautifully flows down the quay behind JR Bungo-Taketa Station is the "Rakumon no Taki Waterfall", which is the end of Kibaru agricultural well.
A waterfall is 60 meters high, and it is famous that Hirose Tanso wrote a poem.

"Shitagi stone Buddha"

The statue on the left side of the photo is Tamonten (Bishamonten).
The statue on the right side of the photo is Senju Kannon.
There is a mystery of the statue on the right.
There are angel wings on both shoulders, and the hands are folded in an omega shape, so it is said that it may be a relic related to Taketa Kirishitan. The mystery deepens more and more.
